Bytton router can be equipped with an internal WiFi module for the connection of wireless devices such as notebooks, PDAs or wireless IP Cameras. The wireless devices can be connected to the Bytton router in order to transmit data over the 3G+ mobile network. The WiFi module is compatible with 802.11 b/g standards providing a maximum bandwidth of 54 Mbps for 802.11g and 11 Mbps for 802.11b.
 
TOPEX Bytton WiFi module has 3 operation modes:

-          Access Point – standard mode of operation acting as a base station for several WiFI clients
-          Station – it acts as a WiFi client connecting to an existing Access Point
-          Bridge – performs transparent bridging between 2 remote Access Point – WDS – Wireless Distribution System
 
The radio frequency band supported by the WiFi module is the 2.4 GHz. It includes 14 radio channels in this band with a 5 MHz range between them – from 2412 MHz to 2472 MHz.
   
Bytton WiFi module is highly secured due to advanced encryption algorithms and methods such as WEP, WPA with TKIP and AES or MAC address filtering. For WEP encryption is used a variable length key on 64 or 128 bits. WPA is another advanced encryption algorithm used on Bytton. It is based on TKIP protocol together with user authentication (EAP) and AES encryption protocol. The MAC address filtering is allows defining White List/Black List type based on the physical address of the wireless devices.
